When Should I Service My Audi Q5?


We recommend servicing your Audi Q5 every 10,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. If you purchased your Q5 new, we suggest bringing it for an inital check-up at 5,000 miles as well. Below we have provided more information on what is included at every service interval.



5,000 Mile Service


Minor service is required for your first 5,000 miles to ensure your Q5 is running at optimal level. Audi recommends SAW 5W-30/40 or SAE 0W-40 synthetic oil. Tire rotation and safety inspection will be performed as well.

  • Engine oil and oil filter - Change oil and replace filter
  • Tire rotation
  • Multi-point inspection - Complete
    • Brake system - Check the thickness of the brake pads
    • Coolant level
    • Check for leaks
    • Wiper blades
  • Service reminder indicator display - Reset display


10,000 Mile Service


Similar to the 5,000 mile service, oil and filter change, tire rotation, and safety inspect are all performed. This is the Minor Maintenance as recommended by Audi to be performed every 10,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first. In addition, engine air filter and cabin air filter are replaced. Additional checks for safety inspection including all interior and exterior lighting, battery, transmission and other critical components of the Q5.

20,000 Mile Service


This will be your first Standard Maintenance as recommended by Audi. Standard Maintenance is required every 20,000 miles or every 2 years whichever comes first. In addition to everything covered in the 10,000 miles maintenance, this interval includes additional inspections and checks to make sure your Q5 is in tip top shape.

  • Standard Maintenance includes:
    • Body/chassis - Visually inspect for possible paint damage and corrosion, from the inside and outside, with the doors as well as hood and trunk lids open
    • Brake system - Check for damage and leaks, condition of brake hoses and the presence of the bleeder caps; Check the thickness of the brake pads.
    • Connected box battery - Check state of health with Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in Guided Functions
    • Door hinge (including door stay) and door latch - Lubricate
    • Engine cooling system - Check freeze protection and coolant level
    • Engine oil and oil filter - Change oil and replace filter
    • Engine, transmission, final drive, steering - Visual inspection for leaks and damage
    • Exterior lighting - Check front and rear lights, turn signals, cornering lights, reverse lights, license plate lights, and hazard warning lights
    • Front and rear axle/suspension components - Check dust seals on ball joints and tie rod ends; check for excessive play
    • Headlights - Check adjustment
    • Horn - Check function
    • Instrument cluster - Check warning and indicator lights
    • Interior lights - Check all interior lights, trunk lights, and glove box compartment illumination
    • Multi-point inspection - Complete
    • Panoramic sunroof systems - Check drainage system by fluid check according to Elsa (if equipped)
    • Road test - Perform
    • Safety belts - Check function
    • Service reminder indicator display - Reset display
    • Tires - Check condition and tire tread wear. Check and record the tread depth
    • Tires - Check tire inflation pressure and adjust if necessary
    • Underbody - Check for damage and leaks, check the wheel well liners, underbody paneling and all lines are properly mounted
    • Windshield washer and headlight washing system - Add fluid if necessary. Check adjustment and function
    • Wiper blades - Check condition and replace if necessary

  • Brake fluid - Change
  • Dust and Pollen filter - Replace



30,000 Mile Service


This will be similar to the 10,000 mile service. But many wear and tear items will need to be checked and repaired/replaced as necessary.

Another 20,000 miles means Standard Maintenance is required. The spark plugs and transmission will also require maintenance work.

  • Standard Maintenance includes:
